My spirit feels faint from the constant pressure to do. I feel guilty whenever I sit down on the couch, watch a movie, or do anything unproductive. I realize my time on Earth is limited, and I want to be intentional with the way I use each second.
God created me with a desire to do, but He gave me an even greater need to be.
Instead of cleaning out the few specks of dirt from the towels in my car, God wants my feet to be walking in the woods closer to His heart.
Instead of sitting behind an empty computer screen trying to write a blog post, God wants me to be in His Presence so He can give me His perfect words of encouragement.
Instead of getting anxious about who I will go to prom with, God shows me that His power is unlimited in what He can do in His timing.
Cleaning, writing on my own, anxious thoughts, and all my attempts to do distract me from seeking my Father’s face above all.
If I really want to be intentional with my time, I should lay down my idols and run away in quiet time with my Father. There is a call to be still. There is a command to seek Jesus first. There is a mission we can only accomplish whenever our priorities are in the Father’s order.
If we are doing things only for the sake of doing them, our work will not be blessed.
We can only obediently do whenever we have faithfully been.
What idols are you clinging onto that you need to lay down? What are you currently doing that is actually depleting you of rest and abundant life?
Brother or sister, the devil wants to keep us focused on unimportant things so that our focus will not be on eternal treasures. We must not let him receive a victory from our lives. God did not create us to be as busy as we all are. He created us for Himself, rest, enjoyment, creativity, community, other people, and ministry.
We will be most inspired, blessed, and abundant whenever we choose Jesus over everything else. God’s faithful children are His fruitful children.
Listed below are ways I desire to be instead of do. How will you find rest and keep your priorities in the Father’s order?
BE IN GOD’S PRESENCE
BE FULL OF JOY
BE A LOVER AND MEDITATOR OF GOD’S WORD
BE ADVENTUROUS
BE KIND, COMPASSIONATE, SELFLESS, AND INTENTIONAL
BE GOAL ORIENTED
BE CONSUMED WITH JESUS
BE GENEROUS
BE HOSPITABLE
BE FULL OF HOPE
BE PURE IN THOUGHTS, DESIRES, MOTIVES, AND ACTIONS
BE THANKFUL AND ENCOURAGING
BE A WOMAN OF PRAYER
