I walked through TJ Maxx today and walked out without buying anything. My day consisted of running a lot of errands and also finding myself being inwardly judgmental of others. I came home asking God for forgiveness and for His help in preparing to lead a young adults small group.
Finding myself in my shower, I often try to touch Heaven with my heartfelt prayers. I come before God with my filth, my mistakes, and my mess ups from the day. He always accepts me, always chooses me, always loves me, always adores me, and always longs to restore me.
Jesus literally gave us the Holy Spirit because He longs to be where we are at.
After I prayed in the shower, I decided to clean my family’s bathroom again. The songs playing aloud on my phone’s Spotify playlist had a common theme. I had saved many songs describing the love of God. These songs touch me in a deep way because of the truths declared over my life in them. I thought of you and how you need to be reminded of the intimate love of our Father.
The love of Jesus surpasses all other things. It satisfies in a way our souls thirst for. Money can’t fix the itch within us. Designer handbags or the latest wardrobe fails in comparison to the goodness of God. We can still enjoy blessings from the Lord, but I am realizing that nothing is better than Him.
Have you been held by the Lord before? Do you know the comfort of His Presence surrounding your life? Do you long to be deeply satisfied?
You will not find love by running to another human. You will not find love by seeking materialistic things. True peace is yours from the Father whenever you call on His Name. Do you need the Father’s arms to surround you and wrap you up? He isn’t far from you. We are the ones who stray from living in Him.
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” -2 Peter 3:9 (NIV)
We all want nice things, but where do we turn whenever meat coolers in grocery stores are empty? What do we do whenever all else fails? We turn to the One who has never failed us.
Jesus is there for you every day. You aren’t a nuisance to Him. He isn’t too busy to lend a listening ear to you. He looks at you in love and with admiration. Yes, YOU. Jesus created you and designed every fiber of your being. No part of you was created with a mistake. There is no flaw in you. You are forever loved no matter what you do, but intimacy with Jesus flows after first being forgiven of sins by Him. God wants all of your heart. He wants to lavish and bathe you in His cooling peace. He wants your heart to be overwhelmed by the fruits of Him that only Jesus offers.
You can accept a love that won’t let you go.
Whoever you are, you are seen. You are known. You are deeply valued.
Ask Jesus into your life to be your Savior, your Lord, and your King. If you have done that before and have found yourself drifting, call upon Jesus’ Name, confess your sins, and turn from your wicked ways. Our days are short. Our lives can only have eternal impact if lived in God.
Don’t keep running tonight. Fall into the arms of God waiting there to catch you. His love surpasses all.
