Trials & Testing

On Instagram, I recently shared some thoughts on what my friends and I were struggling with. I typed, “Are having a bad week or facing opposition from many directions? I’ve got some good news for you. Joy, freedom, life change, and world shaking is on the verge of happening. The reason the enemy works against us is because of the power of Jesus working within us! If we weren’t a threat to the enemy, we wouldn’t be a target to tear down. Know what’s happening and stay strong. What we’re living for lasts forever. The narrow path may not always be easy, but it’s always worth it. Keep confusing people by giving and showing love when they persecute, upset, or make fun of you. I’m cheering for you.”

I want to share some verses with you that the Lord has used to encourage my heart this week.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” -Galatians 5:1

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” -James 1:2-4

“Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.” -James 1:12

“But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.” -James 1:25

Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing.” -1 Peter 3:8-9

The end of all things is near. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.” -1 Peter 4:7-11

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” -Romans 8:26-28

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” –Romans 8:37
