Where Your Heart Is

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” -Matthew 6:21

In the midst of reading passages that I wasn’t really comprehending, this verse stood out to me. I decided to stop and really think about it.

What am I holding onto with a tight grasp? Social media. Running myself crazy trying to do so much that’s not really necessary.

Where do I want my heart to be? Close to my Father’s heart, in His will, and doing His kingdom work through ministry.

To think and live as Christ is to forsake what comes naturally. It’s so easy to get upset, blame others, and try to find our purpose in our work when living in the flesh.

We have life in, because, and through Jesus. The purpose of our lives on earth is to know Him, love Him, live in Him, and share Him. He is our purpose. Once we realize that our purpose is rooted in a mission bigger than ourselves, we can’t live selfish lives. It will no longer be about what we can do, but what God can do through us. Without Christ, we are broken, helpless, and pitiful humans living temporary lives. With Christ, we are made whole, hopeful, and living with the promise of eternal life in Heaven.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” -Ephesians 6:12

“The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.” -1 John 2:17

What are you going to do to refocus your perspective, live for a bigger purpose, and grasp what’s really important?

Let’s take the time to answer this question. I’ll share my answers with you hoping you will be challenged and encouraged by them.

  • fast
  • be instead of do
  • have accountability
  • pray and be devoted to being in God’s Word daily
  • make time for the things that are most important
  • limit time on social media
  • dream big-believe even bigger-pray for the best
  • go out of my comfort zone to do God’s will
  • be humble and full of Christ
  • surround myself with the believers God has placed in my life

I am so thankful for you and your life. We’re in this journey together, and I’m here to keep cheering you on even when you feel like giving up. God has so much in store for your life. I pray that you find rest and peace in Him tonight. Amazing things happen when we stop, sit, and let Him do what only He can do.
