Be Still and Know

I have honestly not been looking forward to starting school next Monday. I’ve been clinging onto each moment of summer and the familiarity of the current season I’m in. Change is on the horizon and quickly approaching me.

God has been opening and closing doors.

The last part of Revelation 3:7 says, “What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.”

One of my closest friends is about to move and continue in ministry as a result of Jesus working on his behalf, many prayers being answered, and seasons of preparation finally being completed.

I’m about to start my junior year in high school.

Liberty University is going to have me for a weekend in September.

My family’s home is getting some new floors.

My little sister will be joining me in high school and the groups I’m involved in.

Our youth group is being relaunched with a new name and a new mission.

Change may look different for each of us. It is sometimes hard, but it is always necessary. I’ve learned that change stretches us and usually results in growth. 

Instead of being overwhelmed by the unknown of this next season, I’m asking Jesus to fill my mind with His beautiful truths. He holds each chapter of our lives and has a divine plan for each one of them. God has already walked our next steps.

“He says, “Be still, and know that I am God;

    I will be exalted among the nations,

    I will be exalted in the earth.”

-Psalm 46:10

As I sat in Jesus’ Presence, I felt Him speak the following words to me:

“Be still and know that I am God. You don’t need to work so hard trying to gain My attention. I never change. While everything around you is changing, I remain constant. I have a plan for you along with your brothers and sisters in Me that’s full of life, growth, joy, and service. Trials will come, but just keep seeking Me as your highest priority. I’m living within and through you. You never walk alone. Each breath you breathe, I’m working on your behalf. Stop running and doing and start being aware of Who I am and where I dwell. Nothing apart from Me truly matters. I go before you. There’s no need for you to worry. Rest in the peace of My Presence. I know what I’m doing. Trust Me. Seek Me. Share your every thought, desire, and care with Me. Bring Me the things you hide. There’s no need to walk in shame when I’ve set you free. You are free indeed. There’s nothing in all Creation that can separate you from Me. I treasure you. I have the best in store for you. Put Me first with your actions. The enemy is out to devour you. Be aware of the war that takes place. You are a warrior instead of a worrier. I’ve already defeated the devil, My child. You aren’t limited in My Presence. Let Me give you My best. Will you let go of the things I have another plan for? I know your heart. I created the desires you have. Be still and know I’m fighting for you. Be still and know you’re My child. Live like you believe these things. Expose the darkness with Light.”

Let’s be still and know Who God is. Let’s not underestimate His power or plans. Let’s be determined to walk in victory daily. Let’s serve others selflessly.
