What is love?
Is it holding hands, receiving gifts, taking cute pictures, or having thoughtful dates?
That’s what our society wants us to believe. That love is more of words and actions rather than a lifestyle. We were made with a desire for love, but sometimes look to all the wrong places to find it.
I had an unhealthy relationship in my life, and felt God telling me to let that relationship go many times; but didn’t have the strength to obey. While I was in that relationship, I was blinded to truth and became distant to those who truly knew what was best for me. I went into that relationship hoping to share Jesus’ love, but my relationship with Him soon became a struggle.
Jesus is always pursuing our hearts. He hates our sin, but wants us to run back to Him and be changed. To turn from what’s keeping us from Him and what’s causing death.
Sometimes we don’t realize why He is telling us to let go of a friendship or loved one, but we have to trust that His plans are best.
They always are. He sees the danger that lies ahead and wants to protect us from it.
When we stop worrying about earthly love in a significant other, we find the truest love in the One who loves us for eternity.
After being redeemed from that situation in my life, I clung to the hope of God’s Word. He saw purpose and potential in me times where I couldn’t see it myself. Jesus takes us from being like the world and broken to being His and restored. That is love. That is the reason why He died for us so that we could come to know Him and be changed.
I don’t know where you’re at today, but I want to share and speak truth to you. I want you to know that no matter how far you feel from God, He is right there wanting you to turn to Him. His arms are open and His love for you will never end. There’s nothing that can stop His love for you either. He sees the situation you’re in and wants you to know that there’s hope. He has a life full of abundance prepared for you and knows all of your desires. He tells us in Matthew 6:33 “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
Kelsey Kupecky shares this quote in her and her husband’s book “The Chase”: “If we really want to put God first in our lives, we must be willing to move some things around.”
Friend, I encourage you to obey the Holy Spirit today. Don’t keep waiting to do what He is calling you to do. Today is the day for change and restoration. It’s time to give our hearts and desires back to Him.
