Restored by Love

What is love? Is it holding hands, receiving gifts, taking cute pictures, or having thoughtful dates? Our society wants us to believe that love is more about words and actions rather than lifestyles. We were made with a desire for love but sometimes look to all the wrong places to find it.

I once had an unhealthy relationship in my life. I felt God telling me to let that relationship go many times, but I didn’t have the strength to obey. While I was in that relationship, I was blinded to truth and became distant to those who truly knew what was best for me. I went into that relationship hoping to share Jesus’ love, but my relationship with Him soon became a struggle.

Jesus is always pursuing our hearts. He hates our sins and wants us to run back to Him in order to be changed. We must turn from what’s keeping us from Jesus and what’s causing death in our lives. Sometimes we don’t realize why God is telling us to let go of a friendship or loved one, but we have to trust that His plans are always best. Our Father sees the danger that lies ahead and wants to protect us from it.

When we stop worrying about earthly love in a significant other, we find the truest love in the One who loves us for eternity.

After being redeemed from that relationship in my life, I clung onto the hope of God’s Word. He saw purpose and potential in me when I couldn’t see it in myself. Jesus takes us from being like the world and broken to being His and restored. That is love. Jesus died for us so that we could come to know Him and be changed.

I don’t know where you’re at today, but I want to share and speak truth to you. I want you to know that no matter how far you may feel from God, He is right there wanting you to return to Him. Jesus’ arms are open and His love for you will never end. There’s nothing that can stop God’s love for you either. He sees the situation you’re in and wants you to know that there’s hope. He has a life full of abundance prepared for you and knows all of your desires. Matthew 6:33 tells us, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

In The Chase, Kelsey Kupecky wrote, “If we really want to put God first in our lives, we must be willing to move some things around.”

Friend, I encourage you to obey the Holy Spirit today. Don’t keep waiting to do what He is calling you to do. Today is the day for change and restoration. It is time to give our hearts and desires back to God!
