What stands out to me about umbrellas is that they are often closed up. They are not used all of the time, yet we keep them around for when storms and rain comes.
Many of us feel like we are in a series of rainy days. Today is a literal one with the weather outside.
On rainy days, you and I find ourselves looking out of our windows thinking of the things we are not able to do. If only the sun was shining, then we think our plans would happen.
Sometimes seasons of life feel like a series of rainy days. We feel held back from chasing our dreams or living the lives we imagine because of unwanted circumstances.
An umbrella is a tool we all use to endure bad weather and still live life while rain is falling.
We often only pull umbrellas out when we “need” them.
They take the pellets of rain seeking to soak our hair and clothes. Umbrellas tower over us. They keep us dry and safe while others without umbrellas get soaked standing in a storm.
I believe God’s message to us today is that HE IS THE UMBRELLA covering us daily. He doesn’t want to be called on or used just whenever your life falls apart.
God is the umbrella that won’t snap or blow away.
He Himself will shield you from harm, but are you opening up His Word and asking Him to be evident through you each day?
Whenever we are covered by God as our umbrella, we are then prepared to love others well.
Other people can be blessed by your life as you live under the covering umbrella of God Himself.
He is our way to enjoy and live life even when things are messy and definitely not pretty.
